Multiple Claude accounts, on Windows.

Claude for Windows signs in one account at a time. Here's every way to run your work and personal accounts side by side on a PC.

Short answer: Claude for Windows keeps one login, so each extra account needs its own data. The free routes all cost you something: a browser profile is the website without the app's Code tab and connectors, a second Windows user means switching your whole desktop, and CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR only covers Claude Code. Claude Sessions Pro for Windows opens each account in its own Claude window, titled with its name, all signed in at once.

Free 1-hour preview. For macOS 14 or later, or 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, with Claude Desktop installed.

Where Claude for Windows keeps your login

Claude for Windows is installed as an app package, and Windows keeps its data in the package's own storage: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Claude_pzs8sxrjxfjjc\LocalCache\Roaming\Claude. Your login, settings, connectors and Code tab sessions are in there. One folder, one login: signing in to another account replaces the first.

The free options

  • A second browser profile. Sign in to claude.ai with the other account in an Edge or Chrome profile. Free, but it's the website: no Code tab, local MCP servers or desktop connectors.
  • A second Windows user. Each Windows user gets their own Claude data and their own .claude. Right for two people; for one person it means switching your whole desktop every time.
  • Claude Code per window. A separate CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR per account, below. It only covers the command line.

Two Claude Code accounts in PowerShell

Claude Code keeps its settings, history and login in %USERPROFILE%\.claude unless you set CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR, and Anthropic documents a folder per account for running several at once. On Windows the login is a .credentials.json file inside that folder.

  1. Create a folder for the second account.
    New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force "$HOME\.claude-work" | Out-Null
  2. Point Claude Code at it for this window, and sign in.
    $env:CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR = "$HOME\.claude-work"
    claude
    Claude Code walks you through login for the new folder. A new window without the variable keeps your first account.
  3. Make it one word.
    function claude-work {
        $previous = $env:CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR
        $env:CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR = "$HOME\.claude-work"
        try { claude @args } finally { $env:CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR = $previous }
    }
    Add a function to your PowerShell profile (notepad $PROFILE):

In Command Prompt: set "CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR=%USERPROFILE%\.claude-work", then claude. Don't set it permanently with setx: every program inherits it, and you're back to one account.

Each account, its own window.

Claude Sessions Pro for Windows runs Claude for Windows once per account. Each account opens in its own Claude window, titled with its name, and they're all open at once, with a tray icon to jump between them. Every profile keeps its own login, chats, Code tab sessions, pins, settings and connectors.

Google sign-in comes back to the account that started it, and "Claude Code in Terminal" opens the CLI on the same account. One license covers Mac and Windows. Try it free for an hour; then it's $15 once for two computers, Mac or PC, with a 14-day refund.

FAQ

Can I run two Claude accounts on Windows at the same time?

Yes, if each account has its own data: a second browser profile, a second Windows user, or for Claude Code a separate CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR. Claude Sessions Pro opens each account in its own Claude window, all signed in at once.

Where does Claude for Windows store its data?

In its app package storage: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Claude_pzs8sxrjxfjjc\LocalCache\Roaming\Claude. Claude Code keeps its own settings and login in %USERPROFILE%\.claude unless you set CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR.

What do I need for Claude Sessions Pro on Windows?

A PC with 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 (Intel, AMD or ARM) and Claude for Windows installed. One license covers up to 2 computers, Mac or PC.

What's the best way to run several Claude accounts on Windows?

For one person, Claude Sessions Pro: each account gets its own Claude window, all open at once, with Claude Code on the same account. A second Windows user is free but means switching your whole desktop, and a browser profile gives you the website without the app's Code tab and connectors.
